Henri Selmer Paris and Vandoren Artist-Clinician Dr. Jenny Maclay enjoys a multifaceted career as a clarinet soloist, recitalist, orchestral player, chamber musician, pedagogue, blogger, and content creator. She is the Publicity & Social Media Coordinator for the European Clarinet Association. She has taught at universities throughout North America, and she has presented guest recitals and masterclasses in conservatories and universities around the world. Online, she is known as Jenny Clarinet, where she created her eponymous popular blog.
In addition to teaching and performing, Jenny is also interested in travelling and researching clarinet cultures around the world. To date, she has visited and performed in more than 45 countries. Recent artist residencies include Arctic Culture Lab in Ilulissat, Greenland, and Spitsbergen Artist Residency in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, the northernmost town on earth. These projects focused on researching clarinet music from the high Arctic while using music to raise awareness about climate change. Her ongoing series, Around the World in Eighty Pieces, explores international repertoire, performers, and history, connecting audiences with the clarinet’s worldwide story.
David Kwek is pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Music Performance at the University of Oregon, School of Music and Dance (UO SOMD) under the mentorship of Dr. Wonkak Kim. He is also the Clarinet Graduate Instructor, assisting with teaching and administrative duties for the clarinet studio. He currently holds the Principal Clarinet position at both the Rogue Valley Symphony in Ashland, Oregon and the Bandung Philharmonic, Indonesia. Kwek is also the clarinetist and founding board member of the nonesuch.reedquintet, Inc.
Kwek attained his MMus with department honors from UO SOMD, and BMus with first class honors from the joint degree program of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore) and the Royal College of Music (London). His teachers were Tang Xiao Ping, Janet Hilton, Michael Harris, Michael Anderson and Eng Hock Onn. His achievements include the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Quarterfinalist (2026), Best Graduate Performer Award (UO 2024), Embassy of Peru Award (2019), and the First Prize of the Clarinet Asia competition (2019) held in Macau.
Kwek is a Yamaha Artist and plays on YCL-SE Artist clarinets. He is also endorsed by Daddario Woodwinds.
